H.R. Giger's Necronomicon

Post by Yog-Sothoth »

Recently, On Halloween, I came accross this book in a second hand book store. It was behind a case of Clear plastic, and looked like it hadnt been touched in ages. I Asked the clerk "How much for that book theyre"? they turned and looked at it, examining it, and realizing what it is.
"$100" they replied. I forked over my money, grabbed the book and ran out.
Yes, i have aqquired a 1'st edition copy of H.R. Gigers Necronomicon without the Dust-Jacket. It sits now in my Library, on my Altar, waiting for the spirits contained in its images of Horrifying Aliens, Demons, and weird S&M sexual monsters to be released.

What now?

What is this necronomicon you speak of?

Looking over some reviews (I've never seen the book myself), at least one person seemed to think that it was largely unrelated to Lovecraft. Was that your impression?

i don't think it has anything to do with hpl.. just a testament to the versatility of the 'necronomicon' name

It actually reminded me of some of the things lovecraft and other writers of the mythos talked about, except most of the monsters he painted were nude and anatomically correct.
there was also an airbrush of one of the Aliens he designed for the movie Alien with a....penis comeing out of its mouth, supposedly as a toung.

People would have paid big money if they used that design in the movies.

Non- HPL related except for...

Post by Erich Zann »

There are two paintings done by H.R. Giger that pertain directly to HPL. They are in his book entitled Necronomicon II. Lovecrafts Visit is one painting and Lovecraft's Pets is the other. These are the only two paintings directly associated with HPL (I'm aware of) from which HRG drew inspiration.
