At the Mountains of Madness Movie Update
Guillermo Del Toro hasn't given up on the AtMoM project. Aint It Cool News posted the following in a recent article about Del Toro's panel at Comic Con:
MOUNTAINS OF MADNESS... this one might be moving a little bit more, at least Guillermo insinuated it was. He said he was in Romania recently scouting locations for the Antarctica set. He wants to do this movie so bad. Here's a quote: "If you saw the [scale models] (for MOUNTAINS OF MADNESS) you would go off into a corner and cry and jerk off... then die." Not 100% certain, though.
Ron Perlman will have a role in every movie Guillermo does, provided he can pronounc the dialogue. . . . Perlman has a role in MOUNTAINS OF MADNESS as a dog sled handler.

Sounds like a good film!

I haven't seen any of Del Toro's movies, but here is a review of the script.

looks amazing. If any HPL story was made for film it would be at the mountains of madness.... the only issue would be the flashbacks I think but there would be plenty of ways of doing that. I suppose that in many ways "alien vs Predator" is derivative of at the mountains of madness, perhaps along with a hint of eric von daniken. That movie also had a flashback section which seemed to work. Of course at the mountains.... has faaar more potential. I'd like to see "the dream quest of unknown kadath" done by disney. Imagine that!
