State Street, "that great street," is famous for many things, but did you know that downtown State Street has become a shoe lover's heaven? State Street is lined with shoe stores for several blocks through the Loop.
Macy's on State Street store boasts being the second largest department store in the world, so as you might imagine, huge, sweeping areas are covered with shoes from moderately priced to top dollar designer. Skipping the sales racks could be a mistake; yours truly found three pairs of magical shoes on sale there recently.
If you cross the street South to Old Navy, you'll find low to medium priced casual footwear for the whole family, from slippers to sandals to boots. In fact, many of the shops on State Street also sell men's and children's shoes.
Straight across State Street Cheap UGG Classic Short is Nordstrom Rack where a shoe department for men and women sprawls across the top half of the store. Here's where to get jaw dropping deals on designer footwear. Clearance items are lined along the back walls. American Apparel not only has sturdy, practical footwear but great leg wear. Do you have tender feet that necessitate wearing socks or pale, translucent skin? Check out their window displays, and take heart. Who says you can't wear socks with shorts? Yes you can, if you do it right!

Duck into Cosmobeauty, and you may be amazed what you find there. You can't miss the bodacious come hither leggings and stockings. And about half way back into the depths of the store, you'll find flip flops, soft comfortable shoes, and sometimes slippers all at lower prices than you'll find elsewhere on State Street.
Now you know: State Street is a veritable treasure chest of awesome shoes and some amazing bargains if you're clued in.
