I'm new to the forum! I first got started on Lovecraft through methods I'm not sure of. I seem to recall seeing his name every now and then in books I read, along with references to Cthulhu. I also remember seing various references to things like "The Plains of Leng" and "Yog-Sothoth" in various Stephen King stories. Oddly enough, those few quips filled me with more nameless dread and horror than the rest of the thousand pages of those books
One day I decided to pick up a copy of "The Dunwich Horror and others" from my library and it all went nuts from there. I've read every story in that book, and the mountains of madness. I want to get started on the Dream Quest of Unknown Kadath soon. But... beyond the books, I hunger for more! I want to send my mind into the depths of oblivion with more Mythos knowledge! Ehehe... actually, I'd really just like to find some people who know about Lovecraft and dig the mythos. I'm going to school at UGA in Athens right now... anyone out there got a Lovecraftian book club thing or anything like that going on?
hey jokerjdw, i'm sort of new here too. these people are pretty nice so far. lots of good resources on the site. i recommend checking the featured writers and pubic archive sections for original stories.
Cool. Once I finish Lovecraft's stories, is there anytihng else I should be reading to get me up to speed? I've heard of something called the 'chaosium'; what is that?
It's a games company, they make a D&D-esque role-playing game called "The Call of Cthulhu", based on the Mythos. Their source-books are good Mythos reference points, from what I hear.

Everyone, I am new to this fourm. I looked for a new member section, could not find one so, sorry, but I have to post somewhere. Just to get started,I met HPL when I was fourteen, (a long time ago) and my world has never been the same. Like his work? lets talk.
When you say "I met HPL when I was fourteen", do you mean you are now at least 83 years of age, and met the man in real life? If so, very nice.
If you mean you encountered his works... not so much fun.

Jesus Prime, sorry dude, a misunderstanding. When I said I meet Lovecraft, I ment I found a book by him when I was fourteen. And; have been a disciple ever sence.
A bit off topic I know, sorry, but I just thought of somthing. Have you guys seen Cthulhu live? It is a live action horror game put out by Chaosium. Shows you how to develop plots, sets, costums and god knows what else.and, its a hell of a lot of fun. Saw a game run here in Kansas city. You would not belive the time and effort put into these things. Some of the effects are a bit cheese, but, its all good.
