The Professional Golfers Association Golf Clubs has paid Judy Owen an undisclosed sum in compensation for Mizuno JPX A25 Irons telling her to swap her trousers for a skirt.
Mizuno MP 62 Irons Owen walked out of her £28,000 per year job as training manager at PGA headquarters at The Belfry when her supervisor chastised her for wearing a trouser suit. Owen was incensed by the Victorian attitude of Mizuno MP 52 Iron set the PGA towards women and sought legal advice and successfully won an industrial tribunal case in January this year.
PGA Chief Executive Sandy Jones said the "no trousers" rule merely reflected golfers' "traditional and conservative" attitudes.
But the Ping Rapture V2 Irons Set association released a joint statement with the Equal Opportunities Commission, saying they had implemented new policies to foster equal opportunities.
