Help on identifying Lovecraft story

Post by johanw »

Hi

I read a Lovecraft or story (or possibly a short story collection) long time ago, can anyone help to identify it? As I remember, it started with a clay figure "nightmare made of clay" and people going mad when holding it in their hands. The story ended in Antartica at a gigantic mountain. What can this be?

At the Mountains of Madness
"To sleep: perchance to dream: ay, there's the rub;
For in that sleep of death what dreams may come..."

"The Horror In Clay" is the first chapter of The Call of Cthulhu and the Antarctic mountains are in At The Mountains of Madness. Seems you merged 2 stories :-)
