This is not an easy decision. However, based on the impact "The Call of Cthulhu" has had on my writing, and that I can't stand to read "At The Mountains Of Madness" any more after doing a mammoth essay on it a while back, I'm going to have to go with "Call".

It's difficult enough that I haven't voted yet. I may be taking all 7 days.

Both are great stories, but I had to vote for Mountains on the merit of the first half of the story. The build-up is awesome.

It's funny but when I was thinking about Moutains, I was especially remembering the end. You're right though, the buildup is excellent.

But Cthulhu is still the better story; more concentrated and impressionistic.

ATMoM without a doubt. Although it's significantly more painful to read it's leaps and bounds better story wise.

Having gone back and reviewed both stories, I must revise my previous statement to say Mountains beats Call hands down.

Call is a good story, but the suspense never comes close to reaching the heights it does in Mountains.

You should feel dirty for that vote.
