I used to use the Gimp years back when I ran Linux (before they had a Windows port of it). It is very nice - the Photoshop of Linux most called it.

I still prefer Photoshop though ;)

i propose a category for published stories. the listings can show author, year of publication, a brief synopsis, and recurring characters/entities

i have a copy of 'tales of the cthulhu mythos,' from which i could compose a few info pages about my favorite stories
A monkey riding a dog is probably the awesomest thing that could ever happen.

A database for that would be cool. A search for "Yog-Sothoth" would turn up a list of all stories that entity appears in, or a search results for an author's name would turn up his or her mythos tales.

that's the ticket.. all this information would be drawn from the database and displayed in a context-sensitive way. here's how it might look if there's a page about a certain story:

Title: The Terror from the Depths
Author: Fritz Leiber
Originally Published: The Disciples of Cthulhu, 1976
Synopsis: In the 1930s, a young poet with a twisted leg and a sleepwalking disorder loses his parents in the treacherous hills north of Los Angeles. He becomes involved with a traveling Miskatonic researcher who measures underground vacuities with a new device, the magneto-optic geo-scanner. Are Great Cthulhu's dreams being carved into the walls of endless tunnels from under the Pacific? Are there more than rattlesnakes lurking near the trails in Griffith Park?
Characters: Georg Reuter Fischer, Albert N. Wilmarth
References: Cthulhu, R'lyeh, Miskatonic, H.P. Lovecraft, (many more in passing - I'd have to read the text again)

if you admins start up a category for stories, i'll do a more thorough job of this, and maybe tackle more stories too

We'll get on it when we start the wave of stories, which is probably third on the list. I think we're done with writers for the time being, so it's locations, and probably the tomes and grimoires and shit. Then we'll move into the tales themselves. Unless someone wants to take charge of a section and start it - JJ, you can sign up and start adding tales if you want, I'll get working on the locations, and Yog can start adding the fictional books.
