Upgrading the forum

Post by Aleister »

I am currently working on some forum upgrades, so if you notice any intermittent problems, it is probably because of that :)

I removed the image attachment mod, as no one really used it before and it just took up space on the posting screen.

I also removed the 1000 or so smilies so we are now left with just a standard pack. It was taking forever for all of them to load on some peoples computers :) I may go back later and add a smaller pack.

PHPBB and the mods installed have all been upgraded!

As always, if there is a particular mod or feature you would like to see, let me know!

Yeah very good improvements. This forum seems to tick over fairly quickly as well, which is nice. Its good to see the icons on the side are working too, so often they don't in other forums.

Personally, I liked the grey logo better . . . but it could just be all this damn, unwanted sunlight pouring into my study and making things difficult to see on my monitor.

Any way you can get the bouncing cthulhu emoticon?

I do want to make the red part look a bit sharper, but I don't want the image to get too big.

As far as the Cthulhu emoticon, certainly! Do you have a link where I can see it? Better yet would be to find a whole lovecraft smilie pack. Please point me to some if you know :)

That first one is the one I was talking about. :D

I wonder how difficult it would be to make other mythos smilies.

Not really hard at all. You just have to shrink down an image and save it as a transparent gif. The problem is some images do not look good shrunk down to that level. That's why most smileys are simply handmade pixel by pixel.

Here is one I just made from an image. Really there is no set size for smileys, but smaller is usually better.

:cthulhuplush:

If you have any images you want turned into smileys just send em :)

Either you did just that, or it really was the sun screwing up my view this morning. Looks pretty cool!

It is a bit sharper yes :)

It also is somewhat shorter, but hard to notice I suppose :) It was taking up a bit more space than it needed to.
