"Eye of Storm - Day2"

Post by decadence »

The storm is expected to hit tomorrow night, possibly sooner but who knows in the end. We all went to Kroger in a large clusterfuck, safety in number you know, and stood in line for 50 minutes. The line ended at the MEAT FUCKING COUNTER. We got bottled water, food that is non-perishable, and charcoal just in case, you know, be prepared and all that shit.

What amazes me is WHAT it was that many of those people were buying. MILK (yeah the power goes out, we need our calcium!), BEER (always great to be in control of your mental facilities in a disaster!), CONDOMS (well someone has to repopulate earth since so many believe this is the big one of 2034), DUCT TAPE (need I say more?) and shit like that, such as candy, soda, whatever. The fruit and vegetable racks were FULL, like people cannot figure out how to can-up and preserve foodstock?

What the fuck is wrong with America? THIS:

We are a nation of Hummers and ps2. We have reached an atrophied state as a nation, where people who have the know-how to survive in extreme situations are either thought of as Redneck mountain men, soliders, or anti-government maniacs with automatic rifles. When did it become a crime to be prepared? MORONS!

Jesus H Christ, man. Duct tape? Miracle worker that it is, it's not going to help after a fucking hurricane.
But stay safe, man, ok?

Actually, I think putting duct tape on your windows can help keep them from shattering during a storm. Of course, just boarding up your windows would be much better.

How to prepare for a Hurricane using Duct Tape:

10. Duct tape an "X" across windows if you don't have plywood to cover them. This will prevent the glass from shattering into 52,581 pieces.
9. Duct tape around windows and sliding glass doors to prevent water from leaking in. In fact, a guy in Florida did this to his sliding glass doors during a major hurricane. The storm took the roof off of his house, but his sliding glass door was still in place.
8. Duct tape your stuff in place. If your roof is removed, you still have your furniture and nicknacks.
7. Duct tape is totally waterproof. Thus, it turns any item of apparel into rainwear.
6. Covering your entire car with black duct tape will give it a stealth look, maybe the hurricane won't see it. If the hurricane does happen to find your car, the extra duct tape "skin" will minimize the damage.
5. Remember that plastic sheeting and duct tape that the Department of Homeland Security told you to stockpile? Use these items to create a giant hang glider to fly your family above the evacuation traffic.
4. Duct tape your family leg to leg so you don't lose anyone.
3. Fill your bathtub with water then use duct tape to form a giant debris-proof cover over the tub. Punch a hole in the duct tape tarp, insert a hose, and you have a large supply of emergency drinking water.
2. If you are caught outdoors, duct tape yourself to a large tree.
or better yet...
1. If you find yourself in the direct path of the hurricane, duct tape yourself on the side of a bus and get outta town!

Rita happens. Fact of life. Where I live was pretty much reconfigured for non-living status. The power went out at 4 a.m. on Saturday, and the electric company is broadcasting notices that it will be thus for the next 5 to 10 DAYS as of yesterday before I can fry an egg, wash my laundry, or enter Ascalon Arena to annoy people who hate warrior/monk builds.

Walmart (not one of my favorite places anyway) was SHUT DOWN by the feds here, because there were 4 deaths associated with fighting over BOTTLED WATER (brilliant, mankind, simply brilliant). Thanks to my background, I was spared the need to argue with Billy Bob Mcwoodsman over whose shadow was larger, etc. I have been living in the apartment @ 89-90 degrees by day, and roughly 87 by night. No AC. No ability to run a generator because there is no gasoline for 50 miles all arund me. The storm (rita and her bastard offspring) wiped out the grid for 25 blocks, and there are large pine trees in people's gaming dens, kitchens, and sedans.

In total, between nature and people killing each other, 23 people have become one with the dirt here. One lady died on friday night, but due to her location, no one could ACCESS her home until this morning, so you can imagine waking up to that SANKA commerical. *sigh*

A lady shot herself in the head this morning 4 doors from my home. No one came because no one can GET through until tomorrow. Even though, the power is purportedly going to be back on tonight. They can access a power line grid surrounded by treefall and houses, but they cannot remove the body of a bloating dead old fart? GAH!

Refugee's fill the eateries, and the hotels are all booked until Christ returns. There is no bread or ice for miles, until yesterday at least, and even that is fighting a crowd like what left the Sudan in their time of woe.

So yeah, life is peachy and the grubs they are a feastin.

I am typing this in the local college computer lab, as I just spent 2 hours ATTEMPTING to use a stylus and do it by way of wifi on my PDA, but each time I would click submit new thread, I am told I am not logged in. Lovely. 30 mins to type what would take me 5 on here. I shall invest in a PDA keyboard hoolup soon.

Anyhoo, to those of you in this area of Texas (east and southern east) I pray you are doing well, and are spared the greater horror that is "people panicking and acting like nutballs". I hope your families are safe, and that you can get back to your digital lives asap.

Until then, I might be on here off an on at the college, but there are lots of people here wanting to use the machines, and they are drooling. I suppose they miss their myspace crack addictions....Who knows.

Saluud, and stay safe!
-Sot

P.S. - WIFI really kicks ass when you can type

I love the word 'clusterfuck'. It's been my favourite for years, and it'll take something special to top it.
Semantics aside - what the fuck were those dicks up to?

Power has been restored. Teenagers have been dealt with. Nitrogen will enrich the topsoil.
