Hello
I was led to your site through the web site of rock band Brown Jenkin (www.brownjenkin.tk). Thought I'd stop in and say "Hi". I'm an independent film maker from Rochester, NY who made a Lovecraftian comedy last year that is currently playing some festivals and conventions. The film is called "Enter the Dagon", and it pokes fun at the struggle between Lovecraft's literature and the Hollywood types who try to adapt it.You can see trailers and stuff for it by following the link in my signature.
Turned out Brown Jenkin had a song with the same title (Enter the Dagon), so I was trying to contact them through their web site. Both e-mails bounced back, so I thought I'd post here to try to reach them in the hopes that are members of a board that they linked to. Just want to welcome them to the club. Besides them and my own production, there is also a British band (www.killingmiranda.com) that has a song called "Enter the Dagon" for download on their site as well. The fact that all three of us came up with the same title within such a short time of each other must be a sign that stars are almost right and soon the Great Old Ones will emerge.

Thanks for visiting! Your film sounds quite interesting. Do you focus on Lovecraft inspired films or was it your first? I will definitly take a look at your site.
It is possible that someone from the band visits here, I just don't know off hand. If they do I'm sure they will see this.
Stick around the forums!

Thanks. Enter the Dagon was my first time directing. I had worked in more minor capacities on other comedic films, some with Sci-Fi or Fantasy themes.
My follow up has been to direct the rock video for Killing Miranda's song "Disposiable". The filming is almost wrapped on my end and I am waiting on footage shot in the UK to complete the project. The video has a Lovecraft theme as per the band's request.
I would love to do other Lovecraft stuff in the future, but I want to do other stuff as well. One of the projects that is kicking around Spinning Grave right now is an anthology movie inspired by The Twilight Zone, Night Gallery and The Outer Limits. I was heavily inspired by shows like those and Kolchak; The Night Stalker as a child and I'd like do tributes to them. William Castle was also a big influence on me, and I'd love to do something in that vein as well.

Very great shows indeed.. I was watching a few episodes of The Night Stalker just the other day in fact. It had been so long since I had seen it.
I don't remember quite when they started (or ended) making the "modern" episodes of Twilight Zone or The Outer Limits. Night Gallery however still stands in it's own time. Great show.. I need to get ahold of some episodes!
It is amazing how Lovecraft's work exists today in so many things. I watched HellBoy yesterday and even that had many references

They just had another go at the Twilight Zone with Forest Whittaker as host just last year. I don't know if it got cancelled or not. Probably did. It wasn't as good as the first two runs.
Supposedly Night Gallery is getting a DVD release in the relatively near future. I look forward to that. The very first episode with Ossie Davis and Roddy McDowell is a classic of horror television.
I received bootlegs of Kolchak epsiodes on DVD as a X-mas gift. I still plan to buy the official set when they eventually make their way into the market. Darren McGavin is awsome.
Yeah, it is incredible the impact that Lovecraft has had in the decades after his death. I've often wondered how he would have viewed some of things that his work has inspired or even stuff bearing his name that has been produced. While I love the film The Reanimator, I suspect he would have hated it. I can only imagine the look on his face if he'd encountered a painting by H.R. Geiger.

What a week it has been for me. On Friday the 13th my film won first place in the short film contest at HorrorFind Weekend Baltimore. It beat a high budget short starring Doug Bradley. I handed copies of the film out throughout the rest of the convention. After the convention was over, I found out that one of my favorite authors (John Skipp) was at the convention unannounced and I totally missed him.
Our first review popped up on Tuesday. It can be read here:

Then my wife got a job offer we couldn't refuse. We are now scrambling to sell the house we bought last year, so we can move 3 hours away to Ithaca, NY.
