Interesting find.. I just looked up the Wikipedia article (which sometimes can contain useful information on things - sometimes not heh) and I noticed they edited it to reflect this same thing.

The Number of the Beast is mentioned in the Book of Revelation of the Christian Bible and has long been accepted to be 666, although in early 2005 scholars looking at a very early version of the book suggest the earliest Number of the Beast was 616. It is closely associated with the Mark of the Beast.
