Stupid question from a new fan.

Reading Call of Cthulhu, would you consider Cthulhu a god or just a creature?

Doing some googling, it seems he is just a powerful creature from another planet.

Any and all input valued.

I'd say powerful creature, but even I'm not sure myself.

according to the books and stories of Lovecraft that I've read , cthulhu is a very powerfull extraterrestial creature, some sort of captain or leader while the azathoth is mentionted as a god

I'm pretty sure he's just an alien creature that is worshipped as a God by humans and some other lovecraftian creatures
