Young Lovecraft

Post by Rammenoth »

Hi all!

First of all, I would like to introduce myself. I´m Jose Oliver and I´m the writer of the comicbook Young Lovecraft. The artist Bart Torres and I are Spanish and we're not a lot into the English-speaking Lovecraft World... (Hope you can understand me... sorry for my horrible English).

We´ve just started to publish our webcomic in English after its Spanish edition. It´s called Young Lovecraft and it´s about the childhood of HPL. We play with the creatures of his Myths and tell what if they had been real entities that he met while he was just a kid. Our Lovecraft it´s not exactly like the real one, but we think our work is a nice homage from our love to him and his works.

At the moment we´re publishing the comicstrips via blogging, in our weblog: http://younglovecraft.blogspot.com/

We started in Spain with the spanish version and it became successful to the point Diabolo Ed., an  Spanish publishing house became interested. With the comicbook version it has sold more almost 4,000 copies (which in Spain is a lot of sold copies if authors are not japanese or american). Diabolo now will publish Young Lovecraft in English worldwide via Previews. We think that, as Lovecraft it´s an important icon of American Literature, may you, HPL readers across the ocean, will be interested in our comic.

To make a quick idea of it, we could say that it´s a cross between Tim Burton's style and Calvin & Hobbes' humor + Lovecraft Myths. Does it sound well? Hope it does...

Can I let you an example?

Very nice!

So will this be going on sale in the states? or is it just an online thing?
