Monthly Meetings in the Washington DC area?

Post by Quills »

Hi, I'm new to the forum, so this is sort of an introduction for me, as well as a question for you veteran members. I'm wondering if any of you Lovecraftian followers would be interested in (or already are) meeting once a month at some restaurant, bookstore or other location in the Washington DC area, to discuss Lovecraft. I did a quick net search,
as well as this forum, and I didn't see an indication that folks were already doing this in the DC area. If folks are already meeting, I'd be very interested in attending. If not, then I'd like to put the idea out there, and see how many people are interested.
thanks

i might consider such a thing if it happened locally. i'm on the wrong side of north america for your purposes, but if you meet with any success please tell about it here.

Well, if this actually takes off, and you're in the area when we are meeting, you're more than welcome to attend. I'm going to post on some other Lovecraft oriented forums to get the word out. Do any of you know of any that get a lost of foot tracffic. I've come across a few with only a handful of posts or that have been abandoned for a few years.
thanks

Very cool idea, I might try to start such a group up in Boston.

Just an update, I've gotten about seven people so far. Suprisingly, none from the forum, but then there may not be anyone from the DC area on the forum or that's seen the post. Still, seven isn't too bad. I think ten is the limit, at least for a first meeting.

Enkil, one place I found several interested parties was: http://www.meetup.com/
It's a website devoted to folks already holding meetings for various hobbies and interests or folks looking to form a group for that express purpose.

There are Mythos conventions, I think. I'm also too far out in the sticks for anything of that sort, though.

idk I think if I held something like that in Ottawa I'd either get a-lot of Goth people that would simply piss me off, or are old hippies who smoke alot of weed.
