Greetings! And need some information for a Lovecraft game..

Post by zigx »

Greetings fellow forum goers. As a recent fan of Lovecraft's world and works due notably to the game Arkham Horror, a couple of friends of mine thought it would be fun to go about developing a video game based in the Lovecraft world.

Now my question may be a little broad but I hope you can all help. We are wondering about what kind of copyright issues exist with the Lovecraft world. We are thinking of using some broad ideas from his works, as well as some specific characters, monsters and locations as well. I read somewhere that the works are public IP to an extent and it would be great to know what that extent is.

If anyone could help that would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Check out the Wikipedia entry. There's some new info on this muddled issue that I haven't seen before.

I have no idea about copyrights but for the love of all things holy PLEASE dont make another "Shadow of Innsmouth" game / Movie. Please.

There are other stories....I swear there are....just look at the table of contents....They are there!
