heres a story i have been working on. i haven't even really started. this is just the beginning and is a rough draft.

authors note: through several years of research i have found horrible truths. truths that are the spawn of nightmares. this hellish knowledge came to me from dreams. dreams so incomprehensible that it has caused thousands of deaths of the unknowing inhabitants of this reality. this is knowledge that must be forgotten, for if it is not then the beings of this truth will raise again and consume humanity. this may be the last thing i ever right. this is my legacy. with this knowledge coming to light for humanity... we can prepare ourselves for the coming dread. writing this will put my life in danger. the beings of ice do not wish to be in the light of knowledge and understanding. they are and have been the puppet masters. the nightmares are clawing and screaming like a tiger in a cage. they are our true gods. waiting, wishing, never to be understood and to only form our history. we might think that we are intelligent enough or able to understand such dissolute knowledge, but in the end this knowledge is our end.

chapter 1
a revelation

walking through a frozen tundra, black... the ice was almost pitch black... and i could hear something calling to me, lesz ici сое devoto inoperante. something was calling to me and i had to know what... then i saw it... it was what looked like a snowman but its angles and dimensions were all wrong. what was round looked flat, what was protruding looked to be caving-in. the idea alone made my mind bleed with impossibility. i began to scream. my eyes started to ooze blood.

i woke up. i had no idea if that was a dream or not. but i had to find out what it meant. i had to find out what that thing was.

i first discovered a small remnant of strange information when researching "the donner party" one sunday morning:

"On May 19, 1846, the Donners and Reeds joined a large wagon train captained by William H. Russell. Most of those who became members of the Donner Party were also in this group. For the next two months the travelers followed the California Trail until they reached the Little Sandy River, in what is now Wyoming, where they camped alongside several other overland parties. There, those emigrants who had decided to take a new route ("Hastings Cutoff", named after its promoter, Lansford Hastings), formed a new wagon train. They elected George Donner their captain, creating the Donner Party, on July 19. At its height it numbered 87 people....

When they reached the Sierra Nevada at the end of October, a snowstorm blocked their way over what is now known as Donner Pass. Demoralized and low on supplies, about two thirds of the emigrants camped at a lake (now called Donner Lake), while the Donner families and a few others camped about six miles (ten kilometers) away, at Alder Creek...."

September 26, 1846 was the date of the snowstorm according to wiki. but later research found that there was no snow storm. history cooperative states that it was VERY sunny and the weather around that time was around 86 degrees Fahrenheit.

i came to the conclusion that ether wiki or history cooperative had misinformation. i interviewed both a wiki representative and a history cooperative representative. they demanded that they had the right information and that the other is ether not getting the right information or is lieing.

i decided to get in contact with the Nevada hall of records. they demanded that it was raining on that day and the temperature was 57degrees Fahrenheit. But they also told me to talk to Dr. Stringer. they told me that he was a famous weatherologist and well learned.

when i arrived to his house in Delaware he told me that they were all right and told me of the organization Named T.A.F.O. and refused to say anything more. the look on his face was the strangest part. he was terrified but of what i had no idea and nor did i care.

hours upon hours i searched the confined reaches of the internet. after awhile i fell asleep while searching for information on T.A.F.O.. when i woke, i found something odd on my screen i saw a strange statue. it was being sold on ebay. with closer study i found that there was some kind of writing on it. i had to find-out what it said. so i bought it.

i found that the words on it were in ancient Greek and read-

ένα επίθ μέρα το πλήθος Πολύ το παγωμένος ένα βούληση άνοδος

from here i found that there was a card of some sort glued to the bottom of the statue. it read "Dr. strangelove", i intended to find this doctor. i asked my friend Nathan Cordy (a PI) to help me with the finding of the doctor.

we found this doctor in pennsylvania in the city of Lock Haven at the address of 423 Bellefonte Ave. with much questioning he told us that the beings name was erus-gelidus-gelu-diabolus. he said the origins of the name was ancient latin and to try to find the history of the frosty demon was madness.

i began to wonder. what kind of being could cross the span of two great civilizations and be undocumented, unheard of, and almost be nonexistent. and weirder yet, how could i have known any of this? why was it I that was given that dream... the dream that seemed to be more of a vision then a dream each day i found more horrible proofs to the idea of this all being real?

authors note: i can hear the things. the things that ARE the nightmares of men. the things that slither slowly into the mind meant only to cause madness. i don't know how much longer i can hold onto my sanity, their coming for me... i can feel the fear changing what i once was... i can hear something at the door... it's very cold... their coming for me...

wha? im sorry lol but you have confused me.

i think you are misinformed

if you would like me to ruin the ending just say so and that will tell you what the frozen being is.

its pretty much a complete slap in the face to all readers. most people that have read what i have so far don't get that this is a joke and making fun of the Lovecraftian writting style(all in good fun though).

the ending will ether piss everyone off or make them say WTF or laugh so hard their eyes jumpout of their head and make love.

chapter 4
the Ice Age

a void had opened up in the sky and beings of unimaginable complexity and horrific composition spew from the new emptiness. some had what looked like wooden wings and claws, while others had legs longer the most trees. the gross of the all looked like snowmen, i guess would be the most appropriate word for it.

the void seemed to have widened as larger demons came forth from the maddening vacuum. then the final crack of the sky, the sky became completely void of its initial contents. hundreds of human beings were being slaughtered. the carnage became unbearable. the streets were flooded with blood and chunks of flesh.

i saw a priest run by and be leaped upon by one of the great spawn of the frozen hell, he screamed and cried for his god as he became consumed by the beast. it seems as though our god as abandoned us... at that very same moment snow began to fall. it was the most disturbing thing my mind has every compiled into information. blood filling the streets and the most beautiful snow fall i have ever witnessed.

we have effectuated our own hell. we have brought the very gods that made us back to earth, for they could not have done it on their own. i fell to my knees and wept. this must be the end, what hope has the created against the creator? i stood up once again, i could see one last object extruding from the nothingness, it was no smaller then a man. it struck the ground with such powerful force it nocked me and everyone still holding to their life 20ft from where we originally stood and then it spoke, “i am erus-gelidus-gelu-diabolus, many of you call me frosty the snowman. i have returned and your flesh belongs to me.”

oh, i'm so glad it's a joke. the writing style, i mean.

i want to tell people, just because you're writing a Mythos tale, that doesn't mean it has to be a pastiche. i just got done looking at two volumes of cross-genre Mythos goodness, and not only are none of them written in Lovecraft's style, but they're widely varied enough that you couldn't call the collection any one name and be accurate except for cross-genre.

grendelvs is right about the pastiche approach.. usually, people write something very similar to the classic mythos stories and consider their mythos work done, one more section of the writing bento box filled. but that's really just the beginning of what you can do. take those classic themes and moods and apply them to a plot that doesn't resemble anything you've seen before. don't just look at the mythos, but look through it like 3d glasses to see everything in a different way.

yea i have read ALOT of peoples work thats almost a complete rip off of lovecraft's work... so what i tried to do was make fun of that.
