I was going to look this up once to post in the forum actually. I had found this site, which had some good info:
http://www.whatiscopyright.org/
but the author (although he has researched it extensively, and is an attorney), he is not an expert in the field. Still a good read though.
I will see if I can find a better (official) page that sums it up.
Would you buy...?

Online stories and copyright
No. Anything you write is automatically copyrighted by you and is not public domain. But, for legal purposes you should still register the copyright because, should anything ever happen, it is more difficult to prove you owns it if the copyright isn't registered.nortonew wrote:Since we're posting them online, does that automatically make them public domain?
Well, someone could just take your stories and publish them but they would be breaking the law!nortonew wrote:Would that mean that anyone who wanted to could just take them and publish them in a book without paying us anything for them?

oh assfucker

That is the first Tabloid Purposes and bennet being the son of a bitch he is had no right to go hunting for all the stories -- he did that so no one buys the book. He got on a rampage when a site I am a member of gave the book a favorable review. The second favorable review I got was from Biting Dog Press' publicity person. I am the author that Bennet and Cussedness don't want you to own legitimately. I got three sequels and the authors are progressively larger than the last installment and got a lot of returning authors. So he made the newsletter, a private newsletter available to the public just to damage the group. The new organization reviewed Tabloid Purposes so guys you were on the line up this site will have a soft spot for all of you, http://www.horrorprofessionals.org.
This thread I know is almost three years old but damn, every time I see that stunt that the assfucker pulled -- it still burns my ass he did it. So in the spirit of that I did a photo. Stefano if this is too offensive let me know, and if there is some way you can take the assfuckers post down with all the links. Yes I will always refer to bennet as an ass fucker for doing it. Bennet is a hated person among the authors who worked with the latter installments of the anthology. One of my newer readers flat out insulted him via Myspace during the December 2006/2007 season after he saw his shitty little fic story.
If he considers himself to be a school teacher, and I would like to address this if his students put together a Tabloid Purposes-esque anthology or showed up to his class with one of my books. I think he would try to take it away from the student and burn it right in front of the lawn. All the authors in the series worked hard on their stories, and it cheats the authos from getting their pay when someone like Bennet pulled what he pulled with the series. May the little assfucker burn in hell for what he did.
He's been a thorn in my side for quite some time, and even got the "grand marshall" from the World Horror Convention 2006 urinating on my name everywhere he goes. A professional FAN FICTION writer who gets paychecks for masterbating on Buffyverse novels. In other words Bennet -- FUCK YOU ASSHOLE! You wonder why I urinated on your photo, look at the things you've done to fuck over sales of my books. By the way, it seems like every anthology you get accepted in seems to not make it to print. It is because of something you pulled with my projects.
