Chinese Democracy (Guns n' Roses)

Post by Hodgson »

Does anyone here listen to Guns n' Roses? And, if so, have you heard any of the material from the new album? I've heard a few songs myself. Supposedly the album is coming out soon. Don't laugh. I think they mean it this time.

You mean Axl Rose's solo project?

I have a few leaked tracks from the album somewhere. Can't say I was knocked out by what I heard. Not sure if I'll pick up Chinese Democracy or not.

Too bad the original lineup can't get past their egos and reform.

They did. Velvet Revolver anyone? They're more Guns 'n' Roses than the current Guns 'n' Roses.

Yeah, VR has a couple of decent tunes. I liked Slash's Snakepit better.

To much of a 'Hair Band' for my taste...

Odin, I assume you have never experienced Motley Crue or Poison, then? :P

And EA, I'm not a fan of either, to be honest. Even Guns 'n' Roses only had a few decent tracks after the first record.

I haven't actually been to any shows but the bootlegs and youtube songs I've heard have been good.

I liked the VR album a lot. CD may yet have good hard rock songs on it. Have you heard IRS? I've only heard a little, but it sounds good.

They weren't a hair band, not at all.

I've heard a couple of new tracks and thought they sounded great, which surprised me as I expected them to suck massively.

Velvet Revolver are pretty poor I think, Slash's Snakepit put out two better albums than VR - they seem to think Matt Sorum counts as an ex member of G N'R when he really doesn't. Not unless you include Gilby Clarke, Dizzy Reed and the harmonica guy as well.

G N' R always will be Slash, Axl, Duff, Izzy and Steven Adler. Okay, Adler is addled with the drugs now even by his own admission, and Axl is a cunt. So Velvet Revolver need to at least get Izzy Stradlin on board to be great.
