"Hidden Lovecraft Goldmine"

I was reading an older issue of a magazine I subscribe to, and it was talking about Oblivion, that recently released game based on the elder scrolls series for pc (and the new one that is on xbox 360).

Anyway, they had an interview in their with the game design team leader, and asked him about Lovecraftian references that are apparently SMATTERED throughout oblivion and the game before it, Morrowind.

Well, I have morrowind: game of the year edition on dvd, and I have never actually played the game all the way through, as it is so massive. Well, since I have nothing but free time these days, I decided to install it and start poking around.

There is a world boss thing named Something-or-other Dagon. There are dagon statues in one place, there is a town JUST LIKE the one in that dagon film. I keep unearthing more and more and more. Some of the books you can find in the game (there are literally thousands of pages of readbale lore hidden all over the gameworld) there are vague, mysterious passages talking about 'old one's' and other nifty shit.

Anyway, I have been scouring the web looking for other clues, trying to find out just how much this phenomenon manifests itself in these games, but I would rather stumble upon them all myself, so I plan on a complete, 100% mapping of the entire morrowind gameworld, and when I purchase oblivion, i will do the same. I will post screenshots and more as soon as i have something worth a damn.

This is fucking cool

That's awesome dude, I've always wanted to play those games. Are they Xbox only? Only thing I game on is my PC.

That's really cool though, sounds like hours of interesting fun.

Well morrowind is Pc as far as I know. I checked the site and apparently they released a version of the game of the year edition, the one I have, on the old xbox, also.

I bought my copy for $19.95 in the store lol.

As for Oblivion, that game is xbox 360 native, and then they released it for PC. The pc version is, naturally, better looking (as is standard), and has plugins you can download, etc.

All I know is, this is an IN GAME screenshot from oblivion, and it makes my eyes bleed:
