Self-proclaimed "annual regular" Alan Thicke returns to "How I Met Your Mother" for the Nov. 15 installment of the Robin Sparkles (Cobie Smulders) saga, "Glitter."
caught up with the beloved "Growing Pains" dad on set, in front of an appropriately sparkly backdrop, to get a few details on his latest self-parodying turn.
Thicke says he'll be channeling fellow Canadians William Shatner and Alex Trebek for his part in the Sparkles-headlined variety show, "Space Teens," an episode of which Barney has unearthed just to torture Robin.
Since Thicke's cameos are always of the self-parodying variety, you'll also see a little of him in there. But the "HIMYM"-verse Alan is a bit more lecherous than the man himself.
"There are a lot of references to beavers," Thicke admits. The heavy-handed innuendo in "Glitter" actually has him wondering how many of his scenes will really see the light of day.
