The King In Yellow Play

I haven't delved much into the KIY but when it was published in estonian of course I immediately bought it and found it fantastic. Throughout the book there are verses that seem to come from a play. And in the course of the short stories that are vaguley connected you see how some characters go insane from reading the play. Of course lines can be drawn from the Nec but I think it's a totally different playground. Does the play actually exist or was it in the author's imagination?

Author's imagination. The idea was what inspired the Necronomicon - a frequently mentioned fictional book. However, I'm sure there have been attempts to write a full version of the play at some point, just as has been done with the Necronomicon.

I've heard that a member from the great rock band Blue Öyster Cult was supposed to have written a large part of the Nec. Wonder if the KIY play was inspired by some real play like the Nec is inspired by the egyptian Book Of The Dead or Malleus Malerificum (or something like that)?

Nice, I love Blue Öyster Cult. Which member was it, do you know?

I know some of their music but none of the members by name, unfortunately.

Ah. All I knew is that Eric Bloom is the singer, but I thought you might have known what he played in the band, I could look it up.

I'm a huge Chambers fan, and Hastur is without a doubt my Lord and Master. I actually do remember reading extracts of a KIY script somewhere; very baroque and very weird. I'll post a link if I can find it.

Surely we could piece the fragments together and guess the plot of the play.
Oh, and Eidolon, if you're into Hastur, I suggest you read "Thorn Within" in my writer's section (shameless plug). It's a nice spin on things.

Its basically about betrayal, death, decadence, and the ascension of the Yellow King. I'll search through the dark underbelly of the net to find those fragments for youze ginks.

I gathered as much, but I reckon we could put it into the Mythos Wiki.
