Interesting Advertisement Placement

I noted that at the bottom of James Vargscarr's piece,"The Angle In The Room", there was an advertisement for "Neo-Angle Shower Doors".

I'm guessing the site is using some sort of contextual algorithm to determine which advertisements are displayed on which pages. Unfortunately, I sincerely doubt that James' story would make anyone want to run out and buy home furnishings with non-standard angles :)

I spotted that too, and I don't think I've yet seen any advertisements quite so surreal on the other ToD pages. Utterly bizarre.

But I'm always glad to help out the struggling bathroom-fittings-combined-with-inter-dimensional-gates industry...

Sort of related, but I didn't want to start a new thread for it:

Waffle House now has a little "history of the franchise"-deal brochure thingy entitled "Under the Yellow Sign."

Having eaten at several Waffle Houses, I can't help but feel that statement is somewhat appropriate...

Yes.. the ads are generated by Google's Adsense program. I am always hoping that they do not annoy people, as I did not create this site simply to put those links on ;) They help me keep things running though..

I always do take donations of course for the server ;)

But yes it can cause some strange ads sometimes based on what it thinks the page might be about.

Actually, I found that strange juxtaposition entertaining, rather than annoying. I would say that the ads are definitely not in the least bit intrusive.

Yep, I can't think of any way of them being bothersome.

Agreed - I have no issue with the advertising at all; it's some of the least intrusive I've ever come across.
