The Temple of Dagon

I'm interested in watching all the recent independent films that are based on HPL's stories. I didn't realize there were so many until typed his name on amazon. I'll be checking them out over the next few weeks.

Does Lovecraft's estate require fees to adapt a Lovecraft story? Contracts, fees, percentages, residuals? or is HPL's work in the public domain?

Can anyone who wants to make a Lovecraft film?
