Sweden's Sara Eklund birdied the Titleist 775 cb irons and Titleist 755 cb irons last hole at Halmstad Golfklubb to take a share of the lead after the first day at the Chrysler Open. Eklund's four under par 68 matched Australian Corinne Dibnah, who finished her round clubhouse leader four hours earlier.
The Golf clubs sunshine at Halmstad made a welcome change to last week's near hurricane winds in Hannover and the scoring reflected the good conditions. Dibnah got off to a good start when she rolled in an 18 foot putt for birdie at the 352 yard par four first. Performance at the Taylormade r7 iron set first was apparently a good indicator of what was to come as Eklund too holed a putt for birdie on the first green.
37-year-old Dibnah only dropped one shot on her way to the top of the leaderboard. Two under at the turn followed by birdies at 10 and 11 and she was four under par. Birdies at 10 and Titleist ap2 iron set 11 were followed by a bogey five at 11, but even then the Australian said she did not actually play a bad shot but was punished when her drive rolled off the fairway into the trees.
