One of the players that will be sadly missed at this years tournament is the legendary Gene Sarazen who dies last year aged 97. For the first time in twenty years, The Masters will begin without the honorary starter who tees off annually with Byron Nelson and Sam Snead.

Sarazen hit the "shot heard 'round the world" in 1935, with a 235-yard albatross on the 15th hole with a 4-wood to tie leader Craig Wood. Sarazen later won a 36-hole playoff for his only Masters victory.
"The aspect of that shot that I cherish most is that both Walter Hagen and Golf clubs Bob Jones witnessed it," Sarazen once said. "That was something special." Sarazen will not immediately be replaced in the honorary starter group that includes 88-year-old Byron Nelson, who won The Masters in 1937 and 1942, and 87-year-old Sam Snead, the 1949, 1952 and 1956 champ.
"We don't have any plans for that," said Will Nicholson, chairman of Taylormade R9 SuperTri driver the Augusta National competition committee. "We just don't know how you go about replacing Gene Sarazen."
