a little help with writing a critic work on lovecraft

I’m starting to write my BA paper and I decided to write it on Lovecraft's weird stories.
The main theme should be the HPL's Cosmicism. I'm still wondering whether it should be the descriptive one or comparative and I hope that I can find your little help in finding some information about this theme. The descriptive paper will be a lot easier, but there is a risk of just paraphrasing someone else words, what I want to avoid. As to comparative one, is that I just can't find any appropriate writer, psychologist, or philosopher to compare with HPL. I thought about Freud and his Uncanny, but it isn't fully what I was thinking of. Also comparing rather similar writer (like Arthur Machen for example) isn't very revealing.
SO what do you think? Have you some ideas? Maybe some books which could help? Or articles? I'll be grateful for any help!
