Possible site modifications

I know I seem a bit absent lately but I am still of course around, and working on things. I really do need a web development staff to handle some of my minor sites 
My main effort of course is this one!
I was thinking about working on a new system for the site that would allow for more interaction. Perhaps allowing visitors to create an account, and submit their own work directly. I am still thinking this through currently and no hard plans have been set down.
I still think that I would keep the current authors and artists in the locations they are in now, and keep the public section seperate.
My main thoughts right now are whether or not this would be beneficial, and have any real purpose.
Any thoughts?
