thought I'd introduce myself

I usually go by the name of elliott but for some unknown reason used my real name here. I've been a fan of Lovecraft for decades. I recently published my first book-THE CURSE OF MESPHISTO's SEED. I wish I could say I captured H.P's spirit in my story but I didn't. I guess every writer has their own style of story-telling. I did conjure up my own set of mythos for the story but sadly that is where any similarity ends. Maybe one day I'll write something that comes a little closer to the stories that inspired me to try one of my own.
best,
bill

Same here except I believe I have captured some of HPL-s. If I wouldn't believe it I wouldn't try to write.

My goal is to one day write a Lovecraft inspired book. My style of writing just does not remind me or anyone else of H.P. Some said Clive Barker but I didn't see that myself. I don't know who I remind myself of. Maybe fantasy author Roger Zelazny a little as far as prose but the other half is just me[for better or worse.

I would not worry too much about trying to be like one author in particular. I think good authors simply write, and if their style happens to be like anothers, so be it, but let the words flow as they will :)

When I approached a new agent, I did just that no comparisons with any other works or authors. I should know by tuesday if I have an agent , the first never got beyond, LATER

I had a couple of agents, both completely useless, but nice people. You can do quite a bit on your own, I have discovered.

I never worked with an agent and rather put things out myself for one thing, they say I am a hard person to work with. It usually because I don't play by the rules of a traditional publisher. One of my contacts does have a literary agent and even with one it is harder to get published.
