What to make of it? Good clean fun or true believers?

Fairly impressive, there are quite a few chaos mages who believe that not all the stuff in the Necronomicon is not accurate.

I picked up a new book this weekend. "Necronomicon Files - The Truth Behind The Legend" (revised and expanded edition - by Daniel Harms and John Wisdom Gonce III)

Here is an excerpt from the back cover:
Thank goodness authors Daniel Harms and John Wisdom Gonce III set the record straight in this scholarly yet accessible history of the dreaded tome. The Necronomicon Files is an incredibly comprehensive guide to the Necronomicon that covers all aspects, legends, and factual history surrounding this nefarious book. From a complete history of the book as it evolved in the Cthulhu mythos started by Lovecraft and continued by others, to contemporary editions now available to the public. From appearances and references in movies and other media, to the actual magical concepts behind the fictional and published Necronomicon variations. Much more than just a dry, factual account, Harm's and Gonce's deep knowledge in their respective fields of interest bring the history and continuing influence of the Necronomicon alive with wit and verve. Humorous and intriguing, this compassionate examination of the Necronomicon is a thorough repudiation of the myths surrounding it, yet preserves much of the romance and fascination associated with the legend
Some info about the authors... Daniel Harms is an anthropologist who studies magic in modern society. He is the author of the award-winning Encyclopedia Cthuliana. John Gonce III is a Neo-Pagan and practicing occultist who occasionally works with law enforcement on occult-related crimes.

The book looks very nice, and I may write up a review or something when I read it.

The first link on this thread would be worthwhile if they could just learn to type "the." It's not that hard. It's (supposedly) translated from Arabic anyway, so it's idiotic not to use terms that are actually in usage...

Isn't this just the old "Liber Logaeth" Hoaxinomicon?

Other than the Ye frequency I think the content would be better suited to a large leather bound tome.

Ideal to leave on your coffee table when your religious aunty comes to tea.

I can imagine it now... She'd have a stroke just trying to pronounce 'Cthulhu'.

I was bored so I started to copy that text, by hand, onto white paper for eventual treatment to make it look dreadfully old (no pun intended) and binding.

Will I ever get it done? Nah, but the intro is done (Book of ye Dead Names). Now only... 100, 200, well a lot, more pages to go.

The overuse of 'ye' in there is shocking.

That site is what I based my Necronomicon off of...
I and I love to use 'Ye'...

I hate it mostly. Only use it phonetically.

Ye mean to say ye don't like Ye??

Only when I'm writing the phonetic sound of words.

I was fairly impressed by the site, that is, until I got down to the bit about Hastur. Being an invention of Derleth, and not of Lovecraft\fact (whichever you prefer), it leaves a bitter taste in my mouth concerning the whole thing.

Am I too elitest here?
