IP Address Change

Post by foxbird »

Folks,

The IP block associated with CM has changed. As such, it may take up to 72 hours for the DNS changes to propogate. The new IP address to use in the meantime is 96.10.18.2. cthulhumud.net/org/com and the traditional cm.foxpaws.net addresses are updated but are waiting network propogation. In addtion, we're now running on much faster bandwidth. So all good changes here.

So what do I connect to?

I am now connecting to cm.foxpawns.net

I don't understand the above address, plus, when I C/P it into my ZMUD it wasnt available.

Hello Furu,

I don't kow if this is the probloem, but it's "foxpaws", not "foxpawns".

In zMUD (i have the 3.62 version), you might need to deselect the "Use" button near the IP address - that will unlock the old IP and allow zMUD to search for the new one.

I cannot access CthulhuMud anymore. I'm not too great with computers, so my previous method was opening "Run" and entering "telnet cthulhumud.com 8889". This does not work anymore.

What should I do now?

Strange. You can use:

telnet 96.10.18.2 8889

but your original command,

telnet cthulhumud.com 8889

still works on my PC. Are you connecting via AOL or something alike?

LoL.

For a moment there I really thought the MUD was gone for good. Nice to know otherwise. :))

IP address is a logical address assigned to your network card to establish communication over the network and also to identify your computer. To change the IP you are using to connect to your service provider, you must instead change the IP address.
