I heard somewhere that someone actually made a full length play about it, I got Drama next semester and I'm directing R.U.R (Rossum's Universal Robots) but I wouldn't mind getting a copy of it for back up...anyone know where I can start looking...all my searches turned up with nothing but Jack and Shit...Jack left town...

Don't do RUR. And I doubt any full version of "The King In Yellow" is going to be any good.
If you want something off the wall yet amazing, do Samuel Beckett's "Waiting for Godot". Single greatest play ever written.

Man every lame ass highschool does that play at least once, RUR's pretty damn original, plus Im down with the 1920s and Im not about to let people fuck it up

Every highschool does Godot? You guys have a better system than I thought, our school's drama class has only ever tried it once. Well, in that case, look up Schaffer's "Equus" as well, it's pretty disturbing. But good luck with RUR. What way do you think you'll be doing it?

Not too over the top, I'll prolly have to build the set myself...but I'm trying to keep it as true as possible, no lame ass costumes or anything...just good ol' Art Deco

If you want to keep it simple, you should consider trying some of sort of Brechtian approach, keep people on their feet.

Don't do "Equus" the guy from the Harry Potter movies did it....
Miller's "Death Of a Salesman" is not half bad.

I had to learn the first scene for a university audition, and they didn't even ask me to do it. Just some weird acting techniques.

That sucks, I spent my childhood acting and I fucking hates it (even though I kick ass at it) so I'm taking on directing

I don't mind acting if I get a good role, but I prefer direction.

Hey... you could write one! MAybe that wouldn't work for school (especially High School), but at least it would be around... I guess... elipsis...
There's a Chaosium RPG-thing called Tatters of the King that starts off with a scene-by-scene rundown of the play, complete with one scene introducing the Yellow Sign that can play out in four different ways (you see different things depending on how insane you are). Eventually, I fight breaks out among the audience.
So, using that as a staring point, you could... I dont know... something? What kinda language would you use for that sort of thing? How do Carcosans talk? Flip that, How does Hastur talk?
Also, this sounds like the sort of thing HPLHS should be doing... why are they wasting their lives? Write the play!

You could just do "Shoggoth On The Roof", you know.
