Rather Creepy

Post by Danial »

I've been reading At The Mountains of Madness lately and have just gotten up to the "history lesson" where he mentions the Elder Things moving to a sub-terranean lake under the original city. Now, this kind of creeped me out because just the other day I was reading online about a great sub-glacial lake in Antarctica (Lake Vostok), discovered in only 1996, that just happens to be located very close to where Lovecraft described this ancient city. Does anyone else find that as bizarre as I do?

P.S. This is my first post here, so please be gentle :)

Welcome. Do you have a link to that story?

Incidentally, I did come across an item today in Discover magazine:

"Seismologists scan Earth's interior and find an ocean underneath eastern Asia. The buried water is at least the volume of the Arctic Ocean."

But that's all it says. I'll post more if and when I find it.

Here's the link about the underground "ocean". It seems the phrasing was somewhat misleading. It is a quantity of water contained in rocks, not a large body of water.

I hate wabbits. The little bastards hop around looking all cute and innocent, then you subject yourself to weeks of sore muscles by planting trees and shrubs and plants, and the next thing you know, the fuzzy sons-of-bitches have eaten all your plants. Then, when winter comes, they strip the bark off the trees and shrubs and kill 'em.

Fucking rodents. God bless high-powered air rifles.
