"And a ball of flame consume me"

Last night, the range-top on my kitchenette burst into flames. It was an electrical fire. I called 911, and the firemen came. They said the wiring all inside the unit is too old and worn, and that patching those wires would be pointless. I talked to the landlord just now, and the owner came up and looked at it, and they are going to go ahead and move me into a new apartment, since legally they cannot renovate with me living in this one.

So, yep, I have to move, and will be offline a bit. The good news? I get a new stove, new fridge, new carpet, and they are replacing my desk, which became one with the force. I will be closer to the window that is at the end of our hallway. In fact I will have that window as mine. Woot. Now I can see all the shady parts of society easier .

Anyhoo, I will begin moving this morning, and most of the day and tomorrow. The cable swap will take a few days I am sure, as it's not just a switch they flip.

So, later taters. (i love my life)

I may not be insightful, but at least I'm flame-retardant.

I think.

I'm something about a 'retard', anyway.

*shrugs* My stance on it stands, however. You could've been killed. I'd sue, but I'm a jerk. It seems like you have solid legal grounds, to me. Through faulty wiring, through no fault of your own, the place you rented nearly got you killed. I haven't rented an apartment in a while, but unless there's some clause saying they're not responsible if you burn alive because they're too cheap to make sure the building they're renting to you is actually safe, or unless you have some aversion to lots and lots of cash - yeah, sue.

*shrug* Listen to me or ignore me, that's my advice.
