I logged on to my computer today to be told that 'Windows cannot load my profile.'
It logs me into a temporary account with nothing but firefox installed on it.
I go online ( My bookmarks and settings are gone) and find out that this is caused by a simple glitch...How can I resolve it you ask?.....Delete my profile and start all over!
My computer is now a blank slate, nothing on it at all!
And WHY?!?! Windows made a mistake!
10gigs of books and manga and 15gigs of games GONE GONE GONE!!
Not to mention all my firefox settings..........

I hate windows..... :cthulhu1: :cthulhu1: :cthulhu1:

whoa.. are you sure you really lost all that stuff? maybe windows just corrupted your profile database or something, and all your collected media is still accessible on the hard disk.

i had a similar experience with mac os x (but it was operator error), and all i had to do was drag my files from one user account to the other.. but that's not windows xp then now there then.

sorry man

Get on with the temporary account--or better yet, see if you can get on with the admin account. In any case, navigate to C:\Documents and Settings and find the folder with bearing the name of your usual account. Inside, you should find your documents, etc. which can be copied out to folders in C:\Documents and Settings\all users. Once you've copied out everything you want, delete the folder with your user name on it (your profile) and create a new profile. You can copy to your new profile from the all users folder you created.

These are the directories you'll want to copy from:

C:\Documents and Settings\%your user name%\Desktop
C:\Documents and Settings\%your user name%\Favorites
C:\Documents and Settings\%your user name%\My Documents

Unless I'm misunderstanding your problem, that should take care of it.
