SUBMISSION GUIDELINES: CROSS-GENRE CTHULHU
Following are the submission guidelines for CROSS-GENRE CTHULHU (temporary title), an anthology of unique Lovecraftian/Cthulhu mythos tales. CROSS-GENRE CTHULHU will be edited by John Sunseri and published in trade paperback by Permuted Press.
WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FOR?
Cross-Genre Cthulhu will be an anthology taking Lovecraft's Mythos--the tomes, the cults, the creatures, the gods - and blending it with other well-defined genres. We want to take the musty hermetic world of HPL and drag it out into the sunlight of Dodge City, the mean streets of Los Angeles, the bright, shiny cyberfuture of Mars Base One. Love superhero stories? Then pit your Captain Laser against the Mi-go in a battle to the death! A fan of romance? Have your heroine fall in love with a shoggoth! Tired of mercenaries going up against the Mafia? Give them a bigger opponent and have them try to stop Cthulhu from destroying Miami Beach!
We're looking for fun, fast pulpy tales with an HPL flavor. We DON'T want straight pastiche - we've seen enough stories in which the bookish protagonist finds a blasphemous tome, calls up some shambling monstrosity from beyond space and time, and gets eaten. By all means keep the shambling monstrosity - we love shambling monstrosities - but have a hardboiled Sam Spade type tracking it down. Have your Tombstone sheriff trying to protect his town from the Children of Yig. Throw your Space Marines up against the Fungi from Yuggoth in a skirmish in the asteroid belt. Have the Hounds of Tindalos hunting someone through the magical land of Faery. Show us what a self-help book would look like as written by Abdul Alhazred--pick whatever genre you want and mix in a generous helping of Lovecraft's Mythos.
New tales are preferred, reprints will be considered.
HOW MUCH ARE YOU PAYING?
$25.00 US dollars ($15.00 USD for reprints) upon publication plus 1 copy of the printed trade paperback. Payment will be made via Paypal.
WHAT RIGHTS DO YOU WANT?
