"Reliving My Childhood"

I have seen ads for this thing called gametap. I was curious so I went to the page and checked it out. It is some kind of pay per month thing, but you can play HUNDREDS of old console games legally. Most people that are in the know on this kinda thing use what is known as an EMULATOR. Well the company that does this thing here has one hell of a nice one.
It has pretty high system requirements, but if you meet them, you'll lose yourself in the shit there. They have old Sega Games (I played sonic the hedgehog for 9 hours!!!). They add new games all the time.
Here is a small list of the games they have:
Street Fighter II
Pacman
Galaga
Tomb Raider 1-3
Tom Clancy - Pandora Tomorrow
Myst
1943: The Battle For Midway (the original ARCADE ONE!)
3d ultra-pool
3d ultra-pinball
ALTERED FUCKING BEAST ARCADE VERSION!
R TYPE
(with just seeing those, you can see what that list can become!)
The free trial lasts 7 days, and lets you pick from a list of games to start. They have some pretty badass classic games on that site.
I may subscribe. For the cost per month to rent 4 movies, you can't beat unlimited access to all those old games that are so hard to find you'd have to be rich to find them in a pawn shop!
As of this post, they currently have 752 games available to play. This is not like that yahoo bullshit with 5000 versions of tetris. These are actual pc and console classic games that are world wide famous from all eras of videogame history. Pacman, Myst, etc. It's amazing.
The client for the thing runs really well, has a crisp, clean look, and is stable. I had no issues running it from the get go. The way this works is, you run it, login, and then look at games in the lounge. If you want to play a game, you can "stream" the game as an encrypted file onto your machine. The game will only work when you are logged in, which prevents abuse. It is safe, again stable, and you can play all you want to.
In my opinion, the best thing about this is that the games all function as they did on the old Sega, or pc. You can save your games, and your account with gametap keeps them sorted. So if you play sonic and hit a checkpoint, it will be there if you logout midgame! That itself is neat enough, but also, you can remap some of the controls for many of the games, such as the pc games.
