Not really, it takes incredibly potent acid to melt flesh, but fibres go easier.

It's all Soviet left-over material from their efforts to clone Coca-Cola components. They produced the acid in vast vats and barrels but I guess their thirst "melted" away when a few drops ate through tank armor.
Now I know you're left wondering "but what material was used for holding the acid?"
Yes, it was dried pudding.
