Not sure, but I hear it involves a pair of pliers and wet noodle.

That's Al for you. The guy never changes a thing <cough>. Sacrifice by wet noodle is sooo 1993.

Please tell me it's not
my noodle.

If you're not sure whether or not another man is playing with your noodle, you may want to lay off of the Guiness for a while.

Obviously not an Irishman, mate. There's two 'n's. But enough of this ploy to move away from the noodle references.
Does anyone else know of any decent avenues to try when seeking pbulication? I've tried Atlantean Publications, and the Book of Dark Wisdom, and I'm awaiting response from both - but there's an old Irish saying that goes 'If you throw enough shit at a wall, some of it is bound to stick'. So, I'm flinging shit any which way.

There's a web site, whose link I've lost, that lists a ton of horror/dark fiction/sci-fi magazines with a brief description of what each one is looking for. Don't have the time to search for it myself, but I imagine it shouldn't be too hard to find. If it's still out there, that is.

I'll take a look, shouldn't be hard.

Well, I found
this, and I submitted "Kraken's Eye" to something called Fables...
Working through the rest of the list now.
EDIT: Just to remind myself (I'm a bastard for forgetting things), I've submitted to Atlantean Publishing, Fables, Strange Horizons... and something else, by God, I'm sure of it.

Piss on a stick, I've been turned down because of YOU GUYS. Stange Horizons refused 'He Who Is Set Upon His Mountain' due its appearance here.
So, no harm to you, but I may curb my fiction output here, or at least leave it until I've submitted things to various places first, if I can then post here. E.A., I know you seem interested in 'Dreams From Outer Spheres', so I'll email you a copy when it's done.

Yeah, I once read that publishers are less likely to accept something that's already been online. Doesn't mean it won't happen though. Keep shopping around.
I went to the Midwest Literary Festival in Aurora, IL (Wayne's World!) last saturday and watched a panel on "Making the Improbable Seem Probable" (or something like that). The writers on the panel were Tad Williams (Green Angel Tower trilogy), Peter Straub (Ghost Story, Talisman), Steve Alten (Meg, The Loch), and some new guy.
Basically, all the writers said that you must have an egotistical belief in the quality of your work and be relentless about submissions and revisions in order to break into the market. They also said that's why less good authors get published far less than tenacious ones.
Looking forward to reading "Dreams."

Yeah, I basically carpet-bombed anyone who would take online submissions. I'm too lazy to post things yet, but if I must, I'll start.
And I'm making mighty progress with it - about 2800 words so far, and possibly 2/3 or 3/4 through it - though I'll not know until I'm done.

That's better progress than I'm having right now. Been working on a story for weeks, but "work" means changing the first paragraphs over and over again.
I call it ToD Syndrome.
