All of these replies have been of inestimable value of course, intellectually and morally I must say, but has anyone even taken the time to access the link I've posted and checked out the music?

Not that it's anything special but it is a unique tribute to Lovecraft and the composer (if ya wanna call him that) was obviously an avid Lovecraft fan.

I listened to a number of the clips. They were all right, some reminded me of an old GBH album I used to have.

After returning to this thread and seeing a lot of weird comments (pretty much the norm around here *grin*) I found the link, and will certainly check it out. Thanks :)

Hell, I'd be scared if the third post down in a thread was still on topic.

Erich Zann,

I've been listening to Cacophony for years. It's an incredible album!

I recently found the name of my website (Unfilmable) nestled amongst it's lyrics (in the song 'Shard').

Check it out:

"Shard"

call of cthulhu as i'm recording here in this studio this shard will surely reach someone, someone who'll know but all these messages have been in vain from the little glass bottle to the unfilmable such things just should not be writ so please destroy this if you wish to live 'tis better in ignorance to dwell than to go screaming into the abyss worse than hell but all these messages have been in vain from the little glass bottle to the call of cthulhu.

-RUDIMENTARY PENI

Take care,

Craig

Yeah, an old housemate of mine had this album back when we were students living in a creepy little cottage outside of Dundee. It's a total brainstorm of an album... I seem to remember somthing about the guy spending most of his life in jail and then killing himself... but I could just be mixing him up with GG Allen.... it's amazing how much music is actually directly inspired by HPL... having said that, a lot of it's tacky heavey metal. I'm currently listening to the album Nyarlathotep by the french electronic artist "flint glass". which is good, but for me, the ultimate Lovecraft anthem is "what do they say? (acoustic)" by the Stormclouds, from the double album "strange aeons". It captures everything I like about HPL's universe.

Not GG, he was free most of the time.

I'm neither, but everyone loves GG Allen.

totally... he's one of the most remarkable characters in music history. Took punk rock to it's conclusion. Talk about "living the dream"... he lived the nightmare.

Although I can't say I would ever have gone to see a gig, though...

heck no... although I'm not sure how many people actually went to GG Allen shows and how many people stumbled upon them... however "for real" you are, I'm not sure the actual act of having human faeces thrown at you wouldn't put you off at least a little bit. And people find madonna shocking.... :)

fig. B illustrates the path of Madonna's creative process

1. Anus & Mouth to stage
2. Anus making noises, mouth lip-synch-ing
3. Other people making music in the backround
4. Fooling around with a crucifix to annoy her father and the pope

That woman is soooo last aeon
