Pronunciation of Cthulhu

When I really think about it, I try to pronounce it in as many different ways as possible, preferably in the same conversation. Lovecraft himself changed his spelling in different works of his to reflect regional dialect. Unless anyone here has an Old R'ylehian accent...

When I'm really feeling ambitious, I give the "u"s a ghostly howl and growl the first bit, so it sound like (gravel)Ku(growl)th(growl)ooOOOOOOoooLoooOOOooo.

I generally pronounce it "Kthool-Hoo". Somehow I can do that. Sometimes when I'm lazy, though, a third sylable sneaks in there, like "Kuh-Thool-Hoo".

I pronounce it like Lovecraft said ... Khûl-hlu
But i think all pronounciations are correct, since Cthulhu cannot be correctly said by the human vocal apparatus, and it adds a sense of mistery to it.

hey, sorry to revive such an old thread - I was looking for the pronunciation of cthulhu and found this: http://www.forvo.com/word/cthulhu/
the american girl pronounces it kuh-thoo-loo but the french person says it twice: once in french and the second time as a totally messed up sound. Is that it??
