odin2,
Your Rite of May Eve was interesting. I'll have to check out your Church of Cthulu site. It must be somewhat disheartening to post something as intimate as a spiritual attuning to the archetypes which inspired Lovecraft and your obvious affinity with them, only to be insulted for trying to share your appreciation. Forums are'nt usually very friendly to personal expressions.
I've learned magical operations (or manifest inversions) from a few different traditions. Ultimately, I devised my own methods, using the universal tools for magical procedure, and found gnostic, taoist, and egyptian symbols and values to be most along my perception of the spiritual origin of matter.
It's my belief that all traditions are equally valid as long as they're aware of the universal laws governing spirit and matter and the magi is serious enough to devote the necessary labor involved. For instance meditation. It cannot be stressed enough that clearing ones mind prior to conducting ceremonial magic with the intention of tuning oneself into such refined (or delicate) extensions of God's mind is of absolute necessity. There's an ancient hindu saying; "If you cannot see god in all, then you cannot see god at all." So as far as I'm concerned your intentions are as valid as any other beliefs as far as magical operations go for all physical and mental acts are of spiritual consequence. There are many people unaware that they are spiritual beings having human experiences. And this is universally understood by any therion that it is for the purpose of God to grow collectively by its manifestation through every conceivable level of thought and form here on earth and throughout the entire universe.
Back to your Rite of May Eve.
I'm curious why you purposely put a black candle to the right of alter and why use the symbol of silver for the left?
I understand the use of cinnamon for cleansing, refining, and protection, but what would your intention for using candlewood be? For they provide different effects from one another.
Also each participant to this sermon of Cthulhu would invariably invoke differing observations, for each are individuals and may not understand how their personalized observations are still valid, leading to a mistaken view that they failed in their attempt to offer a sacrifice of pure energy to the Great Yog - Sothoth.
Please know that I'm not putting you down. I'm just curious as to where your coming from.
By the way the sole objective of your ceremony as to giving instead of expecting to receive is dead on.

"I saw no city spread below, and no friendly lights gleaming from remembered streets, but only the blackness of space illimitable; unimagined space alive with motion and music, and having no semblance of anything on earth."
let the record show that on 2 occasions i donated graphic design services to the coc, and this thread establishes me as an official church consultant with full priviliges and expense account
A monkey riding a dog is probably the awesomest thing that could ever happen.

JJ Burke,
You helped with the graphics, they look good, and upon reading some of the posts I now understand the Church Of Cthulhu.

Yog-Sothoth,
Can't all we banished, blaspheming beings from outer dimensions just get along?
