I laughed. Especially because I know the play, and it's pretty fucked up.

I saw the movie. It must have been a faithful adaptation because it was very strange.

It was pretty faithful, yeah. Can't go wrong with Richard Burton.

You might say I am obsessed with Illithid. True there is much about them in the hard copy world, but online, there is a font of data, and so it fits here. They fascinate me, and their reference to Lovecraft is not lost on many people...

Image

In the Dungeons & Dragons role-playing game, illithids (commonly known as mind flayers) are monstrous humanoid aberrations with psionic powers. They live in the moist caverns and cities of the enormous Underdark. They believe themselves to be the dominant species of the multiverse and use other intelligent creatures as thralls, slaves, and cattle.

And, their patron Deity:

Ilsensine
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In many campaign settings for the Dungeons & Dragons role-playing game, Ilsensine is the patron deity of Illithids. Ilsensine appears as an enormous emerald-green brain trailing thousands of nerve ganglions off into the distance. It is made of the brains of all the Illithids (also known as Mind Flayers) who have died. While not the creator of the Illithids, it sees the creatures as the entities most worthy of dominating the universe. Ilsensine is obsessed with gathering knowledge of all varieties, and its ganglia stretch to every corner of existence, tapping into all the knowledge of the universe. In the standard Greyhawk setting, Ilsensine dwells in the vast Caverns of Thought beneath the Concordant Domain of the Outlands, while in the Forgotten Realms setting it lives in the Deep Caverns. The Symbol of Ilsensine is an Illithid's head clutching the world in its tentacles.
----------

I find them to be both worthy of exploration imaginatively, and socially.
