Actually, that's a pretty good point, why did the damned things come here, and why do they want the Earth back so badly?
When Lovecraft was writing, this was the only known habitable planet-and it still is.
But the GOO can live on planets like Pluto and Saturn, so why do the miserable sods keep trying to control Earth?
There's a story in that.
