I haven't read "At the Mountains o Madness" yet... so I can't comment on that.
But I will say that "In the Mouth of Madness" was an amazingly Lovecraftian film, and as far as I'm concerned the closest cinema I've seen in relation to Lovecraft's works. Very very well done. And Sam Neill >>>>>>>>>>>> all.
I would like to see "The Dunwich Horror" turned into a movie. Or even more so, "The Whisperer in the Dark". Now THAT would be creepy.

Was "In The Mouth of Madness" not John Carpenter?
And I don't hear good things about the "Dunwich Horror" adaption. Can't remember the name of it. There's A "Charles Dexter Ward" film, too, called "The Resurected".

"In the Mouth of Madness" was indeed John Carpenter, and it was part of his "End o' the World" trilogy (the other two films being "The Thing" and "Prince of Darkness"). Very very VERY good movie. Heh, I still remember when I first saw it (which was before I had ever read Lovecraft) and the whole time I was thinking "Man, I wish someone actually wrote books like that."
I didn't realize there WAS a film adaptation of "The Dunwich Horror". Sucks to hear that it was probably not very good though. The only actual Lovecraft adaptations I'm aware of are "Dagon" and, to a much lesser extent, "Necronomicon", which was horrible (I liked "Dagon" alright though).
Now a Lucio Fulci adaptaiton of a Lovecraft story would have been AWESOME. Sadly, it will never happen.

There's actually quite a few films. There's ones based on - "The Case of Charles Dexter Ward", "The Dunwich Horror", "Call of Cthulhu", "At The Mountains of Madness", "Herbert West - Reanimator", and probably more.
None of them are any good, though, with the exception of the film based (loosely) on "Mountains" - otherwise known as "The Thing".

There is a "Call of Cthulhu" movie?
Does Cthulhu get exploded by a steam boat at the end?
*And just FYI, my roomate is currently working on a comic strip I wrote up a few weeks ago concerning the end of the "Call of Cthulhu" story, I'll be sure to post it when/if he ever finishes it.

Haven't seen it. It's short, and it's silent.
