Correct me if I'm wrong, but is that not a title that should be given to you by others?
Every time I read where someone has said "I am a scholar..." I want to travel to their home and beat them about the head and shoulders.
Whaddaya think? Stupid pet peeve or do you feel the same way?
I too and compelled to crack skulls over this.

anyway, i think 'scholar' has more connotations than just merely studying. it carries the weight of a Title, deservedly or not, and usually a little whiff of pomposity for good measure
I
have heard the term used in relation to students at a university. I
am a student at a university.
You are exactly right. The persons who generally refer to themselves as "scholars" look down their noses at people and that just isn't right.
I just noticed that my title is now "Scholar" under my avatar.

The persons who usually refer to themselves as "scholars" use it before making assertion that puts down another person.
That's what bothers me.
I am a student, but I would not dream of calling myself a scholar.
A scholar is what I would call the guy who researches with a whole library to write a book.

Actually, you shouldn't get pissed off when people refer to themselves as a scholar, you should be grateful. By granting themselves this title, they have immediately alerted you to the fact that they are a pretentious twit and you now know that you can ignore whatever they are going to say from now on.
If the person hadn't been kind enough to use this keyword to alert you to their condition, you might have wasted another ten or fifteen minutes of your time before you realized that you shouldn't be bothering to interact with them.
Really, they are doing you a favor.

That's a great perspective!

Surely the "C:/Dos run, run Dos, run" t-shirt should alert you to that fact before words are even uttered.
