If you're going to name a film after a book, make an accurate film of the book. Otherwise, suck it up, strap on a pair, and admit you're only using the name to add hype to something which is entirely your invention. Example - the film "DOOM" would not have been watched, at all, had it not been called "DOOM". But it wasn't even REMOTELY based on the games. But "The Rock Versus Two Space Zombies" wasn't gonna cut it.

The original title I think was something like "The Rock's Goes to Mars"

As long as the movie stays true to the main plot, in this case a man who through black magic causes his daughter to have two children with some outer god, and follow the same storyline, it could still be some differences between the original source and the film.

Del Toro has as you know plans to make At the Mountains of Madness, but there has to be some changes. If not, there will be no use in making it.
