Actually, it would be icky-two scientists, while making calamari one night, and chugging some wine, remembered they had some hunks of Archeteuthis Dux in the freezer.
They sauteed, and spat it out-it was bitter.
Thus it was discovered that the Giant Squid maintains buoyancy with a high concentration of ammonia in the tissues.
True story.
That raised the tone!

Squid's nice - but don't EVER eat octopus. Horrible.

Good, then I don't need to discourage you from cuttlefish either, then.

recipe for poor man's calamari:

1 tbsp. butter
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 bay leaf
3 oz. small, thick, uncolored rubber bands

sautée rubber bands in garlic until they are sufficiently warped. serve with balsamic vinagrette and enjoy chewing for upwards of 30 minutes. your guests will never know it's not real calamari!

The same recipe will do very nicely for garden slugs.

I don't eat anything from the sea, only because I know what they eat. Oh, and they taste, smell and look like crap.

Yeah, the difference is in the seasoning.
