Yeah, like the guy who thought up Cthulhu, Yog-Sothoth and Shub-Niggurath had no mental difficulties whatever.
His subconcious must have been a dungheap!

Sex was pretty well repressed as a topic in HPL's time-at least in the pulps he wrote for.
There were magazines like "Spicy Detective" that had mildly erotic content, Howard and Leiber used s/m themes fairly tastefully, but c'mon, how you gonna get much sex in a story about Azathoth?
HPL was something of a recluse-a solitary and self-contained man, his mother was a dominating and devouring sort of smotherer, he had a lukewarm marriage, and do remember, his father died of syphlis, mad as a march hare.
That alone might have made him shy of sex.
As for racism-ever read Kipling?
The dark skinned villians of the Lovecraft canon have much to do with the somewhat mysterious lives led by people of color in those segregated days.
Also by the exotic cachet of orientals-they were a total mystery to whites then-Dashiell Hammett wrote of them sometimes, and wasn't friendly, either.
Filipinos, Hawiians, Maylays, Hindus and especially any sort of half-caste were usually found in the docklands-which were not nice neighborhoods.
The man is dead, let's not dig him up and chastise him, ok?

you're absolutely right krak..

to change the subject completely, does anyone want to buy a pick-ax, shovel, wheelbarrow, hacksaw or sausage grinder?

What'll you take for the sausage grinder? I have 3 thumbtacks and a dusty shoelace.
