Living The Willows
Im setting out tomarrow morning on a 2 day canooe trip, up into the St. Johns river, one of the few Northern flowing rivers in the Western hemisphere. What inspired this trip? well, its a number of things, but as I sit here, sleepy eyed and ready to turn in, I cant help but laugh at the Algernon Blackwood tale The Willows. Truly wonderful work, and in the comparison of those two hapless venturers, I wonder, truly, how my companion and I shall fare, out here in the Floridian wild, where mans laws are scarce, before my move to Alaska, where such laws lay abolished.

Have a good time brother. Sounds like it'll be a cool time.
"I saw no city spread below, and no friendly lights gleaming from remembered streets, but only the blackness of space illimitable; unimagined space alive with motion and music, and having no semblance of anything on earth."

Well, I’ve returned, and have survived the bears, sasquatches, and yes, hill-billies. What I have come to know is that at no time could there ever be something to truly break the natural serenity of those places which lay dormant and undisturbed, even when two motley trespassers, lead by their curiosity in in their own discretion cross the boundaries of unscrutinized domain but to see and know and understand through the experience of that most estranged and symbolic company.
